Magdalen Hayes (Germany/USA) studied dance at the State Ballet
School in Berlin, the Hochschule fuer Darstellende Kunst in
Frankfurt, the State University of New York, and completed her
1st degree BA (Hons) at London Contemporary Dance School. She
won the Deutsche Bank Pyramid award in 2003 for Contemporary
Dance, received a specialist training from the Unit for Arts and
Offenders (for working with vulnerable and volatile groups and
for Arts within the criminal justice setting, Birmingham 2003),
and she was granted a Theorem Scholarship (Berlin 2004) as well
as a Dance South East bursary towards the Creative Dance
Apprenticeship 2004. As cofounder, choreographer and editor of
La Ventana Company 2003, her creative work has been performed
and screened internationally. Magdalen has danced for, among
others, Constanza Macras, for the Frauke Requardt Company, and
for Goat Island. Her activities as workshop facilitator in the
social inclusion setting includes collaborations with Dance
United, Escape Artists, National Youth Theatre, and the Royal
Shakespeare company.
